About Us

The mission of the Boise State University Center for the Study of Aging is to promote the well being of Idaho’s growing population of older citizens. Its goals are to:

  • Serve as a resource and clearinghouse for Idaho-specific aging data, information and training opportunities.
  • Increase awareness of issues related to aging and the elderly in Idaho’s urban and rural communities,
  • Enhance university faculty and researcher expertise in aging related topics.
  • Facilitate research that improves the quality of life for older adults.
  • Encourage collaborations and partnerships among academics, health and human service providers, community and state leaders, policy makers, universities, students, organizations and agencies, and businesses that are interested in improving the lives of older Idahoans.
  • Promote the field of Gerontological Studies to students who plan careers in the field of aging—working with or on behalf of the elderly—and to students who recognize that knowledge of aging issues is valuable in many occupations and careers.
